How the Terra Adventures Story Began
The story started in 2021 when Nev Styles, founder of The Yorkshire Adventurers, approached his friend Tony Day with an idea. Nev had a lifelong ambition to drive the route made famous by the original Paris-Dakar Rally. Rather than continue talking about it, the pair decided to make it happen. That ambition eventually took Tony, Nev and the team to North Africa in 2023 to take part in The Real Way to Dakar.
It was a serious off-road adventure through landscapes and environments far removed from everyday life. There were challenges, long days, difficult terrain and plenty of moments when the team had to work together. But there were also experiences that simply could not be recreated on a normal holiday. For Tony, it became something much bigger than another motorsport event. It changed his life.
An Adventure Worth Doing Again
After that first Dakar experience, the adventures continued. Tony and the team took part in a number of smaller events before returning to North Africa in 2025 to do it all again. Along the way, they travelled through remarkable landscapes, dealt with the realities of taking vehicles into demanding environments, met inspiring people and made friendships that have lasted long after the events finished.
That first-hand experience is important. Terra Adventures has not been created by someone sitting behind a desk who thought adventure tourism sounded like a good business idea. The people behind the company have driven the routes, dealt with the paperwork, prepared the vehicles, navigated the terrain, fixed problems and experienced the highs and lows for themselves. It means the advice and support you receive comes from people who understand what taking part actually feels like.
Meet the Terra Adventures Team
A major off-road adventure is never just about one person or one vehicle. Behind every successful trip is a team of people working together.
Tony is joined in Terra Adventures by his sons Harvey and Will, who are helping build and develop the business for the future. Nev remains closely involved as a special adviser, bringing the experience and enthusiasm that helped start the journey in the first place. The team also includes their trusted mechanics Kieran and Andy, alongside new team members who bring additional support to each adventure. Together, they form a dedicated and friendly team of adventurers who understand that good preparation and reliable support matter just as much as enthusiasm.
